TILE
Tile is an existing technology that is not utilized to its potential. There are examples of tile roofs and flooring but these are not the common.
The quality of the tile is similar to bricks, it is determined mainly by the clay content of the soil.

Tile for flooring purposes is very common. It is durable and available. Patterns can be created for decoration.

A glaze is then applied and fired again. The glaze is what gives the tile water resistence properties.
Tile, much like brick, is fired.
Tile is used in areas where water is, such as kitchen counters and bathroom counters. the tile protects the wood from rotting.

Eventhough none of the designs presented here use roof tiles, it could be used. It is being utilized in cities, not so much at the village level.

 

 

 

 

The mix to make tile is similiar to brick and is composed mainly from clay. The mix is placed into a form.

 

 

Roof tiles

 

Much like a thatch roof system, individual tiles are supported by battens. Battens supporting tiles would be larger than those supporting thatch due to the increase of weight.
