Gum
poles are used for support. They are readily available, grow long and wide and
can support large loads.
Eventhough it is not a common practice, poles can be utilized to support the dead and live loads of a second story. Examples were found mainly at game lodges.
These
poles are supporting the roof structure. One is supported by metal while the
other is in a concrete base.
